Hey there new friend!
Hello! Hello!
Welcome to my new website, my new blog! If you’re stumbling upon this blog post, maybe you’re already a close friend of mine, or you began to follow me on instagram, or maybe you literally just stumbled upon it!
I wanted to take this time to officially welcome you.
I want this space to be not only informative and educational but also a place that excites you, motivates you, makes you feel good and keeps you going through the not so fun moments of life.
I became a personal trainer for a plethora of reasons.
Spoiler alert: It’s a long story and DEFINITELY is not because I want to get people shredded as fast as possible.
It all began in childhood.
I started swimming competitively around the age of 9. It was year round and I loved it! Fast forward to high school, I was varsity swim team captain 2 years in a row. Yes, I LOVED the sport and loved swimming as fast as I could. But you know what I loved the most?
COMMUNITY.
TEAMWORK.
INSPIRING OTHERS.
I would spend hours finding motivational videos, quotes and podcasts to send my coaches and teammates to get us pumped up for the upcoming race.
My love for getting others to believe in themselves was second nature for me.
I’m a sucker for some cheesy quotes-because sometimes one of those quotes can HIT and shift your day into a more positive direction.
Then life struck. My senior year of high school, before one of the last big meets of the season, I got in a car accident.
A car veered straight into my lane, hitting me head on. I was and still am pretty traumatized from that event. BUT I wouldn’t change it.
WHY?
It boosted my want to help others even more. Our bodies are complicated, confusing, and sometimes frustrating. They are ALSO resilient, strong, intricate and POWERFUL. We can go through a lot and still bounce back.
This accident showed me a lot about myself. Maybe I’ll get deeper into it in another post. But to sum it up, I got really up close and personal with my own fears…and I experienced how it felt to be at my lowest low and then slowly rise back up from the ashes.
Starting from ground zero is hard.
It took a lot of work.
But it made me want to train others even more. If I could’ve had a coach with me during that time-yeah, it would’ve still been hard. But having someone who is there for you, helping you not only build physical strength, but mental strength and confidence as well-that’s priceless.
To sum it up- these experiences were the boost I needed to pursue a degree in Kinesiology, and have gotten me to where I am now…Wanting to create a safe space where people can get messy, get uncomfortable with themselves, show up and get strong, mentally and physically.
I want you to succeed. I want you to be happy, and strong and feel capable of anything.
That is why I’m here, and why I am SO DAMN passionate about what I do.
XO,
Mik
