Do you doubt yourself?
I don’t know about you but I feel like I’m constantly underestimating my own potential
And with most things I like to relate it to the gym..
Because I feel like showing up to purposely make yourself uncomfortable and try new things and do the scary shit is POWERFUL and can benefit all aspects of your life…not just what you do in the gym
One thing I do.
Underestimate my strength
Underestimate how much I can carry
Underestimate my ability to overcome adversity and obstacles
Choosing a heavier weight is one way I do that.
I constantly feel like
“Oh I don’t know…that seems like a lot, I don’t think I can”
“Ill stick with what I know is safe”
And sometimes, that is the smart move, the best move.
If you are just starting out and are not sure what you are doing, then yes. Don’t push yourself to a place you don’t know if you’re ready for it yet
BUT if you are putting the time in, putting the work in, are working with a coach that you trust, begin to notice how your body is feeling and what it is capable of……
TRUST YOURSELF
Sometimes you need the go ahead from someone
It wasn’t until someone (aka Robin @mvmntstudio) told me I know you can do this, you’re strong…
So I gave it a shot, and you know what I was ready for that new weight.
I killed it!
Did I want to be ready? No
Did I feel scared? Hell yeah
Was I afraid of messing up? Failing? Hell yes
But I went for it
Trusting your strength and ability can be tough sometimes….and sometimes you need the reassurance of others to get you there…but I’m telling you
It’s surreal
It’s empowering
It’s special
When you get to that point where you start to believe in your strength…..
